I, RPG or IMS Programs.
- EGL can reuse the existing System i
and System z business logic and can be
integrated with the powerful Web 2.0 application.
- EGL is the part of RDi SOA extending
the existing RPG and Cobol applications
to the web. Further, converting your applications
(for instance RPG to EGL and COBOL to
EGL) into EGL (i.e. GUI) is one of the
exclusive features of EGL.
- EGL understands complex data structures
just as RPG does and just as a business
language should.
- EGL supports report applications (TUI,
Jasper, and BIRT report support).
- IBM Rational Business Developer (RBD)
offers a number of enhancements that will
let System I and System z developers effectively
leverage existing investments in RPG to
quickly produce modern, professional web
or SOA applications using their current
business logic and with minimal time to
market.
- EGL hides the complexity of writing
web applications using J2EE, which can
be difficult to master.
- RDi SOA and RDz SOA is intended for
developers who want to leverage and extend
existing RPG or COBOL applications to
the web or to an SOA-based environment
using webserices.
- RDi SOA provides web development support
with the Web Design tools and Java Server
Faces (JSF) support in the product.
